The aspect ratio can be determined by considering the ratio between horizontal and vertical resolutions. While a 20"/21" screen with 1600 x 1200 resolution is a 4:3 ratio, 17" and 19" models are 5:4 ratio since their native resolution is 1280 x 1024. Widescreen formats are increasingly common, with 16:10 and 16:9 ratios, the latter generally used more for multimedia screens and in the LCD TV market.
