The isopropyl alcohol is mixed with water for use as a rubbing-alcohol antiseptic. It is also used in aftershave lotions, hand lotions, and other cosmetics. In industry it is used as an inexpensive solvent for cosmetics, drugs, shellacs, and gums, as well as for denaturing ethanol. It is also toxic and can cause skin and eye irritation, as well as respiratory problems and central nervous system depression when inhaled in large amounts. As such, it should be handled with care and appropriate safety precautions should be taken when working with this substance. Boiling point: 82.6A C (180.7A F) Vapor pressure: 33.6 mmHg at 20A C (68A F) Flash point: 12A C (54A F) Auto-ignition temperature: 399A C (750A F)
