Product Overview
Flamebloc 500 - Universal CoatingItumescent coatingNo halogen donor requiredGRAS chemistriesWater cleanupZero VOCFlamebloc GS 500 is a polymeric amino phosphate flame retardant coating that meets GRAS (Generally Regarded as Safe) specifications and requires no halogen to achieve additional performance. It can be applied over substrates such as wood, paper, clean metal, and most plastics with excellent adhesion and flame protection after curing. These attributes can be achieved by blending four parts of Flamebloc GS 500 to one part Bulab 501 by volume. After curing and exposure to heat or flame, the Flamebloc GS 500 coating can intumesce. building a foam char up to 100 times the original applied coating thickness. The foam char that forms provides a functional thermal barrier protecting the substrate against both heat and flame.Upon exposure to heat and flame, a char forms on the surface of the substrate which acts as a fire, heat, and smoke barrier. The proprietary active ingredients of this product contribute to flame resistance by melting below flaming temperatures and resolidifying in the form of a carbon layer char that acts as a barrier between the substrate and the flame. As a result, Flamebloc GS 500 will decrease smoke evolution. In addition. it will also provide resistance to flameless combustion, referred to as afterglow.Typical Product characteristicsAppearance: Semi-clearDensity at 25CC: 1.36-1.41 g./mLpH (neat): 2-3Total Solids: 63-67%Coverage: 3.5 - 8.5 M2lL
