An exterior shoe and an inside shoe are the two types of brake shoes. The outside shoe is positioned on the wheel's exterior and pushes against the rail's outside. The inner shoe is pressed on the inside of the rail by being put on the inside of the wheel. Brake shoes are positioned on a hub that may be changed by a threaded rod arm that goes up and down. On a rail vehicle, the brake shoe is a type of shoe that is used to slow or stop the motion of a wheel. When the vehicle is moving, it is mounted to the wheel and presses against the rail. Typically, the brake shoe is constructed of metal.
