Product Description

Badi is made from daals (split beans) such as moong, urad, and chawli. Split beans are soaked overnight before being ground with heeng, salt, and chiles. The ground badi mixture is then poured in a straight line onto plastic sheets and dried in the sun. Badi is made from moong dal, either with or without peels. Although moong dal with peels is excellent, this does not mean that dal without peels is inferior. Moong Dal Vadi Rasa is a delicious dish made with moong dal vadis cooked in a tomato-based sauce with onions and spices. The rich flavour of the tomato-based sauce seeps into the vadis, giving them a delightful flavour. These are often made in the summer.
