This 3 kg kadaknath chicken is a breed of chicken that lays dark brown or black eggs, set to be a new superfood. The 1.5-month-old chicken may look like a typical Indian laying hen but on closer inspection, you can see that it has a mottled grey and white hide with tiny black scales around its eyes and beak. Unusually for a domestic bird, it does not have the normal spurs found on "fighting" breeds but instead has a face with red wattles. The breed is famous for its high protein, low fat, and low cholesterol content in its meat which makes it very popular among health-conscious consumers.
