Carbohydrazide Chemical in both powder and liquid form finds use oxygen scavenging in boilers to prevent oxidative corrosion. Carbohydrazide is a very effective boiler oxygen scavenger in powdery form, as a formulation. It is used to scavenge even the last traces of DO (Dissolved Oxygen) from the boiler feed water. It prevents corrosion by forming a protective passive film on metal and boosting pH in condensate line. It is highly soluble in water and insoluble in organic solvents. Carbohydrazide replaces the conventional Hydrazine by overcoming the hazardous carcinogenic effects of hydrazine. Its reducing properties for metal oxides, such as converting ferric oxide to ferrous oxide and cupric oxide to cuprous oxide, finding use in metal passivation.
