Product Overview
Bluelab Truncheon Nutrient Meter for Plant Germination It is essential when growing with a hydroponic solution to KNOW what the strength of the solution is before feeding your plants AND while they are growing. If the ppm reading is too low, your plants may not be getting enough nutrients. If the ppm reading is too high, plants can dehydrate. The nutrient solution needs to be measured everyday so you know when to add more concentrated solution or when to add fresh water. Without an instrument to measure it, you are only guessing and run the risk of a failed crop. When you add nutrient to water the ppm increases. If you add more water to an already mixed nutrient solution the ppm decreases. Plants take up the nutrient elements everyday so it is important to replace it to reduce the risk of plants stressing and eventually starving. When a plant takes up more water than nutrient elements, which is normal in high temperatures, more water may need to be added to the nutrient solution to reduce the likelihood of dehydration or root burn. To take a reading of your solution - simply place the probe head into the solution and the reading is indicated by the flashing lights. Simple. Calibration is not required and it is powered by 3 x AA standard batteries. Handy tip: If it reads low, it needs cleaning. Clean and test in a known testing solution (EC2.77 solution) once a month. The Bluelab Conductivity Probe Care kit has everything you need to keep it well maintained.
