Product Overview
Granular Activated Carbon Conforming to AWWA B 604-05, NSF and USFCC standards, we produce activated carbon for a wide range of industrial applications, including gas and air cleaning involving traditional reusable substance (solvent) recovery applications. Heightened environmental awareness and the enactment of strict emissions guidelines have led to the development of new applications, most notably in the area of air pollutant removal. Our carbon is also being used to an increasing extent in the treatment of water, including drinking water, ground-water, service water and waste water. Its primary role in this context is to adsorb dissolved organic impurities and to eliminate substances affecting odor, taste and color in halogenized hydrocarbons and other organic pollutants. Yet another broad field of application for activated carbon is the treatment, purification and decolourisation of liquids, which is of particular importance in the pharmaceuticals, food, beverage and other allied industries. Our proprietary manufacturing and activation process and the basic raw material used have a determining influence on the absorptive characteristics of activated carbon. The figure below represents two very different varieties of carbon we produce: GLOBAL GL-2 (SPL) is useful for water treatment applications while GLOBAL CARBOBLEACH PF 322 can effectively decolorize edible oil or a drug solution. TEST PARAMETERS GL-2 (SPL) CARBOBLEACH PF 322 BET Surface Area, m2/g 1100 Min 1100-1200 Iodine Adsorption, mg/g 1050 Min M.B Value mg/gm 240 Apparent Density, kg/m3 500-600 250-350 Hardness, % 98 Min pH (1% aqueous extract) 8-10 3 - 6.5 Moisture, % 10 10 Loss on ignition, % : 4 4 Yet another major application is effluent treatment and Global offers POLLUCARB range of granular coal based carbon. GLOBAL POLLUCARB 1240, for example, has large surface area, high chemical stability, longer service life and easy to regenerate with steam. It is used for the removal of BOD/COD in effluents and dissolved organics in potable water to significantly improve its color, taste and smell. GLOBAL POLLUCARB 1240 can be used in a fixed bed liquid phase adsorption either in open-to-atmosphere gravity filters or in closed system pressure filters.
